Oświęcim- the City of Peace took part in the celebrations of the International Day of Peace which takes place on the 21st September. On this occasion teenagers from the Primary School Number 9 of Peace Messengers prepared a special program presenting the city, which referred to the idea of the holiday. This program was presented to their age mates from the Russian Volgograd via Internet. Teenagers from Oświęcim could also send regards to their Russian friends and see a program presented by them. This event in Oświęcim was coordinated by the Promotion Department of the City Hall and the meeting took place in the Wedding Hall of the Registry of Vital Records and Statistics
International Association of Peace Messenger Cities, to which Oświęcim belongs, was the organizer of the whole project. Wieluń city took part in this event. Its partner was New Haven in Connecticut, USA. On the same occasion young people from Płońsk interconnected with Japanese Hiroshima.
