The Castle Museum in Oświęcim

 

The Castle Museum began its operations on 1 January 2010 and since then is a place of important events in the history of the town, serves representativly, culturaly and educationaly. The museums mission is to promote the history of the city of Oświęcim.

The collection includes documents, stamps, coins, maps, books, photographs, everyday objects, archaeological sites.
Most of the exhibits presented on permanent display depicting life before the world war II: residential interior design, everyday life of its inhabitants. The presentation is enriched by reproductions of old photographs.

With a history of Oswiecim is also inextricably linked to the history of the place where the museum is located. The castle, tower, fortified walls and buildings of the castle hill is one of the most important monuments of the city confirming its eight hundred year old roots.
The defense tower, is one of the oldest brick buildings in the malopolska region, and the view from the tower shows a beautiful panorama of the town and the surrounding areas.
